The Advantage of a Curved Screen on a Connected Bike

When Echelon announced their next-generation Connect bike, the EX-8s, I was very interested in a lot of the features they were showing. The flex frame to reduce stress when you're out of the saddle is actually a very important biomechanical improvement. The paddle shifters on the Bluetooth(R) resistance controller are a huge advantage when you're actually trying to simulate outdoor rides.

And the LED lighting is just fun. Silly, good-looking, futuristic fun.

But having been part of the connected fitness world for a while, one of the features that I was most intrigued with was the curved monitor. Curved screens have been around for a while, but they are primarily used for gaming or in the office. One of their more 'eye-popping' attributes was that a curved monitor actually reduces eye strain by allowing the user to see more of the screen at once.  And in today's world, where we all spend a lot of time staring at screens, this was quite significant.

After doing some deeper reading, I learned that curved monitors are popular for gamers because they create better immersion. The user can literally see more of the screen at once without moving their eyes with their head. A curved monitor literally simulates a bigger monitor without having to take up more space, which is really a cool feature.

And the initial response for my clients who have hopped on and tried this bike is that it is most definitely a step forward, a new generation, and an improvement over the original connected bike format.  The flex-frame feels better, the stability is better, and the screen is a subtle-but-gigantic advantage.

And because of who we are, ConnectFit is the only dealer in the Boston market who has this product to try and feel.  We are the Connected Fitness specialists.  So you owe it to yourself to come to ConnectFit and try theEX-8s Connect Bike before you make any purchases in this category. It will totally blow any first-generation bike out of the water.
