Why True is the Best Elliptical Brand...Period.

In an earlier blog, we talked about the different generations of elliptical machines otherwise known as a non-impact gait simulators.  Because as the category develops, it improves.

But one piece I want to expand on is the changes in the adjustability features of these machines.

Early ellipticals were definitely trying to be non-impact treadmills. In that their only adjustment was in the incline of the machine. And you can create an incline on a rear-drive machine pretty easily. It took a long time to figure out how to make incline on a front-drive machine.

And the advantage of incline is it targets different muscles and allows you to change your workout. Because doing the same motion over and over again is boring and can create repetitive stress.

But one of the most significant improvements in elliptical machines was when they started using adjustable stride length as the primary adjustment instead of incline.

Like incline, adjustable stride length allows a user to change the motion to hit different muscle groups. But adjustable stride length also allows the user to fit the machine to their size and leg length. This is a huge improvement over the incline adjustment, that different size people can actually adjust the machine to give them the same exact range of motion. It also allows a person to replicate a walking, jogging, or even running motion. And by adjusting the stride length, you increase or decrease the hip and knee angle as well. And these are all huge advantages.

One of the reasons I consider True Fitness to be easily the number one elliptical machine manufacturer is that between True and Octane, which are both under the True umbrella, they have so many different styles of the machine. You have the only true lateral adjustable elliptical which is by far the most unique and complementary piece of cardio equipment in the industry. You have their seated ellipticals, which are similar to a recumbent bike but add in the upper body workout as well as a lower knee angle and much more comfort for the Arch and Achilles. You also have the ability to get guidance on their q47 series to measure your hip height and the unit will actually tell you what stride length you should use for walking jogging and running motions. They have a Zero Runner unit that actually has a knee joint and is one of the highest calorie burners in the industry. And what might be the new king of the entire elliptical class, you have the XT1 unit which is the only unit that allows you to discreetly adjust incline and stride length to create so many different workouts and to fit so many different people. And the true lineup of center drive ellipticals is smaller, quieter, and also has adjustable stride length options.

So while we always love the Cybex Arc trainer, and while the freemotion 22 has the best content in the industry and while spirit gives you adjustable stride length and an amazing price, the True lineup of ellipticals has by far the greatest amount of choices and styles and has had more improvements than any other brand.

Let us know if you'd like to talk about the elliptical machines or if you'd like a home consult!  We love to meet you in your space!
