Home Gyms are just Following the Trend...

"The basement is no longer just a place for storage or where you park a spare television and couch. Custom moldings typically found in upstairs living areas are now included in build-outs. Gyms, saunas, and even lightwells to brighten up the space are all part of the downstairs upgrades."

I ran across an article in Boston.com about the trend of ultra customization.  And, first of all, we are obviously seeing this, since we work with so many builders and designers.  But the other thing that jumped out to me was the comments about how many people are creating these very personalized spaces because they are building refuges.  These spaces are supposed to allow a person to spend most of their time in their home, without any loss of 'quality of life' in the things they enjoy the most.

What we're seeing with all of our builders and designers is obviously a larger trend. That's why we don't just sell equipment.  We specialize in designing workout spaces.

Our homeowners are taking a very strong interest in making sure every aspect of their house is going to fit their specific needs.
For fitness, this means being able to really enjoy their workouts in a comfortable space, well-lit, with non-generic equipment.  It is personalized like the rest of the house.

And I have to tell you, since we work with over 200 build and designed experts, We are constantly seeing this kind of emphasis. It's always been this way at the top end, to some degree. But now that the training studios and spas that we are building are showing the personality and differentiation that their owners want, we're seeing the same kind of personalization in our home gyms.1692201613-imagesFromCamera-2023-08-16T15_45_11.1140_8204

Some of this is just simply the right equipment, wanting newer innovations and equipment specific to the workouts that they've enjoyed. But a lot of it has to do with the look and the feel, which has to do with the lighting, the layout, the cord management, and especially the flooring.

We've had a number of clients ripping up that old black hard rubber to replace it with more modern looks that also absorb more vibration and are better on the joints.

And being able to CAD out every home gym we design, the same way we used to do only with commercial gyms, has been a huge boon.  I finished two floor plans last night, when was for Boston and one was for the Cape, and both are being delivered in 2024. But by getting ahead of it, we understand and can create the look and feel for the client to see.atam over 13 3
