Oxefit is a Better Workout...

I've been doing this "Fitness Equipment Thing" for 25 years, and I've helped design equipment with over a dozen manufacturers. And as the Chief Product Officer of the biggest dealership in the industry at that time, it was my job to know every product of every brand. So I have a relatively unique view of our industry.

And after getting the OxeFit XS1 on the Newton floor, and having shown it and demonstrated it with a number of our clients and influencers, there are some pieces of feedback that are important.

The first is, very simply, it is a better workout in a shorter time. Not even talking about the interface or the content aspects, because it allows you to break the laws of physics, literally allows you to train safer while getting a better workout in a shorter amount of time. That's really why (at the time of writing) 5 NFL teams have already purchased these machines.

Being able to change the eccentric versus concentric movements allows you to load the eccentric phase of an exercise more heavily. Normally, whether it's a weight stack machine or a free weight piece, you're always limited by what you can lift at the concentric phase, even though research shows you get a bigger benefit from having a heavier eccentric phase. The OxeFit literally allows you to determine each phase separately so you can lift a bar at 150 lb on the way up, and 200 lb on the way down. Which, by itself, is a huge advantage.

OxeFit also allows us to add weight as we go through the range of motion. If you remember back in the days of Nautilus we had the differently shaped cams that allowed a piece of equipment to have a different amount of resistance throughout the range. The Oxefit takes this to another level where you can electronically change the resistance throughout the range digitally, literally allowing you to "change the shape" of the cam in a workout every single set. It also has burnout and add-on modes to increase or decrease during a set, and even a perturbation mode that challenges the user to constantly have to balance a slightly shifting load.

Secondly, one of the clear advantages of the OxeFit is the amount of feedback it gives to a trainer or to the user. Having the force plates in the base allows a lot more information to the user about their right and left balance, and allowing trainers to get the feedback and create the workouts for their clients and even train their clients through the interface is another huge advantage. Every trainer we've shown this piece to was really impressed with that and loved the fact that instead of trying to replace the trainer, the OxFit is built to work with a trainer and allows the trainer to work their clients out more effectively.

The third epiphany that was very clear was that clients really want the longer term demographic specific workouts. It's nice to have a library of exercises, it's great to have single 20 minute or 30 minute workouts. But having 3 weeks, 6 week, 8 week or longer workouts based on the demographic of the user is really what a ton of our clients really want. A 70-year-old neophyte is going to want a very different workout than a 26-year-old ex-division 1 athlete. But having specific workouts that apply to each clients, longer-term workouts that take all the guess work out and allow them to just start working out without having to do any of the guesswork was amazingly powerful.

And if you haven't tried this unit yet, you need to come in and give it a spin before you look at any other strength training piece. Commercial quality, with over 250 lb of digital resistance makes this a unique piece.
